"Danceress (The Gesture)" (1922) by the German artist Oskar Schlemmer (1888-1943) is a key piece from his Bauhaus explorations of form, movement, and space. Schlemmer sought to understand the human body in relation to its environment, often abstracting figures into geometric shapes. This work embodies his exploration of the dancer as a pure form of movement and spatial interaction.
